GCI is calculated base on four mayor index:

  1. Economic development: this evaluate macroeconomic figurtes of the state such as: Gross Domestic Product, unemployment rate among others and based on four groups: domestic economy, international trade, investment, employment.
  2. Goverment efficiency: this evaluate the performance of local goverments on implementing policies to improve on: tax collection, distribution of resources, institutional environment, legislation and social framework.
  3. Business efficiency: this evaluate the performance of the State in terms of: productivity, labour market, financial market, management practices and globalization.
  4. Infrastructure: this evaluate infrastructure and human capital based on: basic infrastructure, technology infrastructure, scientific infrastructure, health, ecology and education.

Colours:

  1. Dark Green: States within Top 25%
  2. Light Green: States above 50%
  3. Yellow: States below 50%
  4. Red: States within bottom 25%
